What Craig's corporate
clients have said about this workshop
Craig,The workshop that you gave to General Motors Baltimore
Women in Manufacturing Organization was well received by
the attendees. In speaking with each of the women after
the event, it was apparent that everyone brought something
very personal away from the workshop that they hadn't considered
previously. It was important for our group to actually take
some time to reflect on what our vision of our perfect vocational
day could be. Thank you for your time and insight!

| Craig Discusses why he developed his new workshop,
How to discover and live your
passion 365 days a year and what research
elements were designed into the workshop |
Much of the workshop and the design around the Ten Ps (Purpose,
Prize, Perspective, Possibilities, Place, Position, Passion, Perfect
vocational day, Present and Putting it all together) is meant
to help replace hopelessness with hope for those in mid-life.
I designed the workshop and its exercises to help people
motivate themselves towards more pleasure then pain Many people
come into the workshop wanting to find a better vocational life
for themselves but continue to live lives which are painful for
them. My objective was to create exercises and ideas to help break
this pattern.
Many of my workshop attendees come into the session assuming that
their ideas are crazy and not possible. After the workshop, many
leave feeling different like perhaps the new options they were
willing to consider werent so neurotic after all.
Many of the attendees come to my workshops with a low self concept.
The workshop is designed to help them recover their sense of self
which helps their internal motivation. This is important as in
mid-life it becomes easier to become set in our ways and establish
patterns which prevent us from changing.
The advantage is in mid-life, people tend to respond to internal
stimuli more then external stimuli and the workshop is designed
to draw this out in people
In many ways, the workshop captures ideas and concepts that
have been discussed for the last 2000 years. Aristotle in 384
BC believed we were meant to lead pleasant, self-sufficient
lives aligned with ones interests and purpose. As a result
I designed a visualization exercise in the opening segments
of the workshop to capture this. Later workshop attendees have
the opportunity to write down their abilities and their interests
and see which ones are in alignment. I discovered as a
result this helps people start to consider how they can start
to lead their lives more in accordance with their true self.
P for prize was designed to help people focus on whats
most important in their lives. I have attendees focus on writing
down and becoming aware of how they know if they are following
whats most important to them and how they know if they
are not.
This often starts the process for many people to re-examine
their values (what they prize) and the goals to achieve these
aims.
Many of my attendees come to the workshop ready to consider
the possibility that at mid-life, it has become more important
for them to understand who they are vs. what they do. I designed
in exercises meant to have them understand their perspective
of themselves and how they might change a unhealthy perspective
if this was impacting their growth and development at this stage.
I designed a section on letting people examine their possibilities
for their lives. At mid-life, it can be helpful to re-examine
whats possible rather then impossible. As result, many
attendees start to realize that their current lives do not match
their new expectations. This can lead to a feeling of crisis
and turmoil . I help address this in the workshop design giving
people an opportunity to give themselves permission to follow
their passions and define what their perfect vocational day
would be like. I notice as a result, people start to feel like
they need less permission from others to follow their hearts.
I designed a section on what to do in the present to help address
the various emotions which come up for people when contemplating
change at mid-life.
Emotions tend to be at an all time high during this period based
on how people appraise their thoughts . In the design, I give
people an opportunity to consider their emotions as well as
those around them. I have them explore how life will be different
once they start to live their vocational passions. Additionally,
I have them define if there are any underlining goals which
are the real reasons for reaching their perfect vocational days.
The workshop is designed on the belief that people can make
positive change in their lives and the workshop content helps
to facilitate this change.
I have learned throughout my research that people tend to become
more motivated as they see themselves closer to their goals
and I have designed the workshop to help people accomplish this.
Finally, I believe in the magic of story-telling and many of
the exercises have been deigned to facilitate story telling
and the discussion of their dreams.
In summary, How to discover and live your passion
365 days a year draws upon the last 27 years of
my working life integrated with my 11 years doctoral research
and my own transitions.
Please join us soon so I can cheer you on from the sidelines!
Regards Craig
